Ohne eine künstlerische Ausbildung genossen zu haben, widmete Mamadou Cissé sich von Anfang an ganz der Zeichnung. Im Mittelpunkt seines Schaffens steht die moderne großstädtische Metropole und seine Vision ihrer Architektur. Das Ergebnis ist unverwechselbar. Voller Entzücken und mit Leidenschaft entwirft Cissé ein architektonisches Szenario mit farbigen Wänden, das den Bewohnern Freude und Heiterkeit vermitteln soll.
Ausgangspunkt seiner Zeichnungen sind oft reale Gegebenheiten, wie die New Yorker Hauptverkehrsstrecke, der Big Ben oder die Sydney Oper, um die herum Cissé dann seine eigene architektonische Utopie entfaltet.
Mit seinen in akribischer Kleinarbeit und viel Liebe zu Papier gebrachten Zeichnungen gelingt es Cissé die Attribute der heutigen städtischen Hölle umzudrehen: Unter seinen Filzstiften werden sie zauberhaft und verheißen eine neue städtische Atmosphäre.

2007 wurde Cissé im La Maison Chailloux in Fresnes ausgestellt. 2009 und 2009 präsentierte die Galerie Bernard Jordan seine Zeichnungen zum Salon du dessin contemporain in Paris. Mamadou Cissé ist 1960 in Baghada, Senegal geboren. Er lebt und arbeitet in Fresnes, in der Nähe von Paris.

The self-taught artist Mamadou Cissé has never stopped drawing. For more than ten years, he has focused all his precision and meticulousness on drawing cities and architectures. Both artist and utopian, he imagines urban spaces with colourful walls and labyrinthine perspectives he mostly depict from above.
These geometrical and dazzling cities remind us of kaleidoscopes. Far from being threatening, their colours suggest a pleasant and nice life for its inhabitants. The density and quantity of buildings express Cissé’s desire to offer housing to everybody.

Monumentality, vertigo, extreme saturation, inhuman architectures, all these aspects of the contemporary and infernal city are subverted by Cissé’s mastery in felt pens, so that urban spaces become enchanting and promising of a new cityscape. New York main highways, Eiffel Tower, Sydney Opera House, Big Ben, are Cissé’s motifs and starting points from which he develops his own perception of the city, between imagination and futurism.

Born in 1960 in Baghada, Sénégal, Mamadou Cissé lives and works in Fresnes, in Paris area. His drawings have been exhibited for the first time in 2007 at the Maison Chailloux, Fresnes. Then in 2009 and 2010, the Bernard Jordan Gallery showed his work at the Contemporary Drawing Fair in Paris.

Autodidacte, Mamadou Cissé a toujours pratiqué le dessin. Depuis plus de dix ans, la ville et l’architecture sont le sujet de tous ses dessins. L’artiste-urbaniste utopiste imagine des environnements architecturaux aux murs colorés et lumineux, vus du ciel selon un savant jeu de perspectives. La ville devient un kaléidoscope, elle est géométrique, éblouissante, envahissante mais jamais menaçante. Au contraire, les couleurs apportent joie et gaieté à ses habitants, et la densité des immeubles répond au souhait de fournir à tous un logement.

Trop plein, hyper saturation, monumentalité, vertige, folle géométrie moderne, Cissé renverse ces attributs de l'enfer urbain contemporain qui sous son crayon et ses feutres deviennent enchanteurs et prometteurs d'une nouvelle urbanité. Les grands axes de New York, la Tour Eiffel, l’Opéra de Sydney, Big Ben sont autant de motifs à partir desquels Mamadou Cissé tisse des cités imaginaires, futuristes, ses villes.

Né en 1960 à Baghagha, Sénégal, Mamadou Cissé vit et travaille à Fresnes. Ses dessins ont été exposés pour la première fois en 2007 à la Maison Chailloux à Fresnes, puis présentés en 2009 et en 2010 par la galerie Bernard Jordan au Salon du dessin contemporain à Paris.
